The very existence of humanity has depended heavily on the use, modification and control of fire.
Everything we make and use is touched by a form of controlled fire - food, transport, weapons, materials…the list is endless.
Fire is a destructive force! It is energy released at the point of conflict between air, heat and material. Some forces are consumptive, (like a lion eating an animal) and violent but, these are not necessarily destructive acts.
Because fire is destructive and an energy source based on conflict so, too, are our societies and human culture.
As long as we entirely depend on a destructive force to build our world we will never know peace.
The first steps to human peace will come when we pass through this primitive state of dependence on destruction and develop a way to exist using a form of energy that based in construction (perhaps like cell division).
We are what we build.
